Working For Us

Based across three sites in Richmond, West Malling and Manchester, Sterling continues to grow and recruit quality individuals.  Sterling is committed to investment  in the development and wellbeing of all our staff and offer a variety of exciting job opportunities.

Our well established graduate scheme, now in its 3rd successful year provides extensive training in technical and soft skills as well as ongoing coaching. Four graduate recruits are appointed each year and most are quickly promoted to senior positions within the company. Investing in graduates has been pivotal in driving the company forward and attracts more talent to the industry.

What our employees say

"I joined Sterling as a recent graduate in September 2008 and embarked on the company's bespoke trainee underwriter scheme.  Joining Sterling has been without question the best career move I've made.  The training has been second to none helping me to develop an excellent blend of both people skills and technical knowledge required for a job as an underwriter.  As well as providing high quality in-house training, Sterling encourages its staff to undertake professional examinations administered by the Chartered Insurance Institute.  The company provides the necessary financial support and time required to study for and sit the examinations and rewards those that achieve the progressive qualifications.  I have recently achieved an Advanced Diploma and have become an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute under the guidance of the company.

Sterling is an excellent place to work in terms of career development.  I speak from experience when I say that the company actively looks to promote from within having found myself that opportunities are numerous and progression encouraged."

Nathan Cook - Commercial Underwriter

"Sterling is a fantastic company to work for - they really invest in their staff by giving them the opportunity to study for professional qualifications and actively encourage people at all levels of the company to gain CII accreditation. As part of the graduate scheme, I have been lucky enough to rotate through many different teams to gain a unique insight into different areas of the business and increase my understanding of how Sterling operates as a whole"

Natalie MacDonald - Graduate Trainee
