Why Sterling Insurance supports accessibility
Sterling insurance believes in universal access to our site. To help with this we have worked with current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to help provide a site that is easy to navigate and accessible to all.
The main areas that we have tried to address in this release of the site include:
Browser Compatibility
We have designed this site so that it can be easily viewed in the following browsers:
- Internet Explorer 6
- Internet Explorer 7
- Mozilla/Firefox 1.5.x
- Safari 2.0.x
- Opera 9.01
You will be able to have full use of this site if the JavaScript option on your browser is enabled or disabled.
Text Size
You can change the size of your text on this site.
Making text larger in IE6
1. Open the 'View' menu
with the mouse or by pressing 'Alt + V'.
2. Select the 'Text Size' option with the mouse or by pressing
'X'.
3. Choose the text size you wish with the mouse or by using the up
and down cursor keys and pressing the 'Enter' key or by clicking
it.
Making text larger in IE7
1. Open the 'Page' menu with the mouse or by pressing 'Alt +
P'.
2. Select the 'Text Size' option with the mouse or by pressing
'X'.
3. Choose the text size you wish with the mouse or by using the up
and down cursor keys and pressing the 'Enter' key or by clicking
it.
You can also zoom in on the whole page in IE7 to enlarge the whole browser window.
To do this press 'Ctrl + '+'' to increase the zoom and 'Ctrl + '-'' to decrease the zoom.
Making text larger in Mozilla/Firefox
1. Open the 'View' menu
with the mouse or by press 'Alt' and 'V' at the same time.
2. Select the 'Text Size' option with the mouse or by pressing
'Z'.
3. Increase or decrease the text size with the mouse or by using
the up and down arrow keys and pressing 'Enter '.
You can also press 'Ctrland '+' to increase the text size, 'Ctrl'
and '-' to decrease the text size. Pressing 'Ctrl' and '0' returns
the text size to its default size.
Making text larger in Safari 2.0
1. Open the 'View' menu
with the mouse or by press 'Alt' and 'V' at the same time.
2. Select the 'Make Text Bigger' option with the mouse or by
pressing 'Ctrl + '+'' to make the text bigger or 'Make Text
Smaller' option with the mouse or by pressing 'Ctrl + '-'' to make
the text smaller.
3. Increase or decrease the text size with the mouse or by using
the up and down arrow keys and pressing 'Enter '.
You can also press 'Ctrl' and '0' to return the text
size to its default size.
Making text larger in Opera 9.0
Opera allows you to
increase or decrease the size of both text and graphics.
1. Press '+ ' (in some versions you might need to press the 'Shift'
key as well) to increase size and the '- ' to decrease text size.
Each press will increase or decrease the size by 10%.
Alternatively press 'Alt' + 'V' to bring up the view menu and then
press 'Z' to bring up the zoom options then use the up and down
arrow keys to select the option you want followed by 'Enter'.
Colour
Contrast
The site offers all its text with sufficient contrast between the
text and background colour to make the text easily
readable.
